Saturday November 2, 2019 from 9 am to 5 pm, join us for a chance to hear 2020 Presidential Candidates and other Iowa legislators discuss and share ideas for disability issues and health care reform.

LCMS is partnering with Accessibility for All to host this all-day event at the Ramada Inn (525 33rd Ave SW, Cedar Rapids).   State legislators will present Iowa plans in the morning, followed by Keynote Speaker Sen. Tom Harkin (retired, D-Iowa, 1985-2015) during lunch from 11:45 to 12:45.  Several 2020 Presidential Candidates, including Sen. Cory Booker, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, John Delaney, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, former Rep. Beto O'Rourke, Sen, Bernie Sanders, and Andrew Yang will take the stage one at a time from 1 pm til 5 pm.  Moderators include Cindy Hanawalt, MD, PhD, and Catherine Crist, EdM, SPHR, Chair of Accessibility for All.  There will be time for questions and mingling with candidates.

If you know others who would like to attend, please have them register at:  https://afanow.org/2019-accessibility-inclusion-and-outreach-conference/  Tickets for the conference are still available.  Limited On-site registration will also be available ($10) for conference-only attendees (no lunch).  All are welcome.  Doors open at 9 am, Forum begins at 10.

The Iowa Republican party has declared that the Presidential nomination is not being contested in Iowa, and therefore no candidates are campaigning here.   LCMS hopes to have a similar discussion of health care ideas after nomination conventions with candidates from both sides of the aisle in Fall 2020.

People with Disabilities are most impacted by a dysfunctional health care system, with many of the same concerns as physicians and other medical providers regarding insurance coverage and access to services.  In this conference, we will come together to show our concern and share ideas for the future direction of health care in Iowa and the United States.
